One of our favorite stories in GQ last year was correspondent Brett Martin’s very very funny account of what happened after Aziz Ansari asked on Twitter if a magazine (or travel channel) would please pay for him, chef David Chang and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy to go to Tokyo and eat food together … and GQ happily volunteered.
Tonight, Brett won a James Beard award for it in the humor category.
(By the way, this was also one of our favorite photos in GQ last year. It’s by Ture Lillegraven)
BOOM. GQ is the best. Congrats and thanks again for sending us to Tokyo.
This very simplistic “for dummies”-style article was surprisingly helpful for me. Maybe you will find it useful, too, if you also have the tech savvy of a 75-year old Midwestern grandmother.
This doesn’t stop being funny.
#564: weezer - say it ain’t so (1994)
the say it ain’t so bridge (and subsequent guitar solo!) still makes me cry for the hard-drinking and emotionally distant stepfather i always wanted. somebody’s ric ocasek is giving me chills.
Seriously, people from broken homes have no idea how hard it is to be creative when you had a happy childhood.
Sometimes I miss the 90’s. Ok, a lot of the time, actually.
